Back on Blog Wagon

So a few people have it brought it to my attention that I haven't updated my blog in awhile...

Yes, that is the case, as a certain new Little Man has eased his way into my life, capturing most all my attention, energy, and wakefulness. : )

For those who missed the big news, Samuel Tad Maddox was born exactly 6 weeks ago, on Tuesday, January 25, at 4:51 p.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 20 inches long. (For comparison sake, Dash was 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 21 inches long---prompting my doctor to tell me I grow fairly consistent babies, which I totally took as a compliment.)

While I have 6 weeks of great memories, funny stories, and blessed times that I really want to share, I'm forcing myself to 'move forward' so to speak and just start blogging about the present. (See "catching up" on 6 weeks of blogging is slightly overwhelming for me and one reason why I have simply been stagnant on the blog-front.)

But here are some things I can tell you about the last 6 weeks--
  1. Time has gone by quickly. Tad seems like he has been here forever, and at the same time, it feels like he just joined our family yesterday. I blame sleep deprivation for messing with my mind.
  2. Dash is a super-duper Big Brother. He's fairly gentle, will share toys, and has been very accepting when Mommy has to take time to feed or comfort Tad. (He has recently started to pick Tad up, though, which I am finding super scary and do everything in my power to avoid.)
  3. It's much easier the second time around. Even though it takes time to learn a new personality, there is not the "first-time-mom" jitters or anxiety. (This is also super scareyme, however, cause it makes me see how I/we could adapt to a third...)
  4. Without fail, every third or fourth day, you will get pee'd on during a diaper change. (Or in my case, pooped on.) And, this is much easier for Mommy to handle than Daddy. : )
  5. After weeks of sleeping two to three hours at a time, getting four (or gasp! five!) hours of sleep in a row leaves you feeling on top of the world.
  6. I could not do any of this without Tyler. That, and Tad's first smile at me.
  7. Tad doesn't miss a meal and is a strong/quick nurser, which has turned out to be essential when there is a busy boy toddler in the picture. (FYI--Tad was back to his birth weight before he was a week old...this normally doesn't happen until around two weeks! He has really filled out and has the cutest little double chin.)
  8. We have been beyond blessed with gifts, love, babysitting, help, and dinners from so many friends and family. I've not even finished thank-you cards, but if you were one of the many visitors who graciously helped us in some way, we REALLY appreciate it.
Alright, it feels good to be back on the blog wagon. I just hope you all didn't forget about this blog and will keep coming back to check in our two little amazing boys!
