Why Children Don't Need iPhones

Since the iPhone is pretty much one of the coolest things on the planet, its no wonder that Dash wants it all the time. Stocked with a few of his favorite movies, shows, songs, and even apps—Ants, Bubbles, and Fruit Ninja—Dash is on my phone almost as much as I am.

Most of the time, it’s not an issue…until someone calls. Half of the time Dash hangs up on them (after all, they are interrupting his movie!), and the other half of the time, Dash answers. If I am lucky, he’ll even answer and bring the phone to me.

But one time, I was unlucky. You see Dash answered the phone and brought it to me, but I was in the bathtub. And who was the lucky caller that clearly heard running water, splashing, and bathing? That would be my boss.

So what do you do when you are in the bathtub and your son answers your phone and brings it to you and it’s your boss? Well, I’m not sure what you would do, but I freaked out and pressed End Call as fast as I could.

I prayed that maybe Dash had accidentally called him and was hopeful that I had hung up before my boss had time to answer. (Lord knows some of you have been on the receiving end of an accidental call from Dash—sorry!)

But alas. I was unlucky.

Two minutes later, my boss called me back. When I let it go to voicemail, he left a message. He had a work-related question for me. It took me close to two hours to muster the courage to call him back, and thankfully, I got his voicemail when I did cause I didn’t want to field any questions or explain things.

Later on, I asked Dash about the phone call.

“Did you answer the phone and hear a man talking to you?”

“Uh-huh…,” he replied with a huge grin.

“What did you say to the man?”

“I said, ‘RRRRROOOOOAAAAARRRRRR! I’m a dinosaur!!”

Insert laughter here.

I’ve never mentioned it at work and am seriously hoping that my boss somehow thought he had the wrong number or that my productivity at work counteracts that awkward (albeit hilarious!) moment.
