A Tribute to Max

After 14 - almost 15 - years of wonderful life, Max was laid to rest today. The poor little guy had been in a lot pain due to some mouth/teeth issues and had even stopped eating normally. (Of course, he would always eat anything that "fell" from the high chair, just not too much of his regular dog since it hurt his mouth so much.) With much and careful thought, we made the decision to let him go. It was a hard, hard, hard decision, but one that we knew was necessary since a vet visit after Dash was born, about ten months ago.

Anyways, it was painful for us, and still is. A lot of tears were shed - and still are being shed - so keep us in your prayers.

As much as Maxers seemed to test our limits (walking into Dash's room while Dash was asleep and waking him up with the "clack-clack" of nails on a wood floor), he was a major part of our family. He was Tyler's cohort growing up, sleeping under the covers at Tyler's feet. He was our first pet as a married couple. He was my first "baby," and would gladly let me practice my baby cuddling techniques during pregnancy. He was also a "friend" to keep me company through five years of sleeping alone when it was Tyler's shift.

He was Max-a-million, Max Lucado-Potato, Maaaaaaxx!!! (when he was in trouble), Maxers-Tobiaxers, Maxxy's, and many more stupid and silly, lovey-dovey names we came up with.

Max, you're a good dog, and we love you.

He was indeed one in a max-a-million! Glad that Max got so much time to spend with such a loving family - especially the last year. Isn't it incredible how pets become a part of the family! Such a touching tribute video... Zona and Ha'bibi send their thoughts and we send our prayers.

Oh my... I wanted so many times to call yesterday, but I couldn't decide what I would say. I'm so sorry you were forced to make this decision. I know its one you struggle with, but it was the right one. Just know all dogs go to heaven, and he is barking down at us right now. He and Danger are playing outside and eating treats for every meal!
