Dash got his first tooth about a week or so ago at about 9 - 9 1/2 months –finally! It was fairly agonizing for every party involved (parents, babysitter, and of course Dash!) We’re already noticing how his once-cute “nibbles” are now razor sharp “bites!”
The 9-month check-up went off without a hitch. Our kiddo’s height is 30 in. (!), putting him in the 90 % for height. He weighs 19 lbs., putting him in the 25 %. He is a tall, lanky baby! His height means that he has officially outgrown the Chicco car seat, so we have plans to pick up the new toddler edition this weekend!
Dash can now stand-up – without the security of a table, couch or pant-leg! His absolute favorite toy is his Lion Push Car…he pushes that thing all over, hitting every wall and every piece of furniture, and then turning back to look at you like it was funny…and honestly it is! He also climbs on anything that will hold him – including the drapes in our entryway and on the back door.
The above item proves to us that walking is in Dash’s immediate future. Given the opportunity, we’ve seen his little foot quiver like he wants to move it, but is not quite sure how. You can almost see him processing it in his head. We’re open to wagers…I personally, give it two weeks.
We’ve had quite the “mimick-er” on our hands, too. Both my dad and our doctor saw this first-hand, when using their hands to explain something. Dash, apparently, was listening intently, and started doing the exact same hand motion they were doing – hilarious! He loves to wave to anybody, make his hand “talk like a bird,” make noises with his mouth, and even cup his mouth to make his voice sound different. Look for videos to come soon.
The above item proves to us that Dash is the cutest baby ever!
Tyler and I are doing great, well into the planning of our 5th wedding anniversary and Dash’s 1st birthday, which God ordained to fall on the 13th and 14th of November, respectively. Work is going pretty well for both of us, but like most, we prefer those afternoons at home as a family.
Tyler (and Travis) helped me paint our master bedroom. Plus, Tyler bought me some new uber-modern furniture! Although it still needs a few accessories in my opinion, our bedroom is now the fresh and contemporary oasis I’ve always dreamed it to be! Look for pictures to come soon.
Max is hanging in there…he at least has welcomed Dash whole-heartedly, even doing his best when Dash grabs and viciously pulls his hair (which, I can say is growing back in nicely after the groomer gave him buzz cut). Dash LOVES Max, and thinks he is the coolest thing. It is common in our house to hear “Max – RUN!” or to hear us snapping our fingers to get Max’s attention in order to try and at least save the dog some shred of dignity. (It must be hard for a baby to squeal at you, pull your hair, and then laugh because he thinks your cries of pain are funny, and not even be aloud to give that baby the snap he deserves for fear your own neck will be snapped just as quickly). Poor Maxwelly – he is old, but really does do his best with Dash.
It is also not uncommon to hear “Mamama” and “Dadadada” around our house, as well as Ba-Ba-Da-Buh-Tee-Do-Da-Ba-Ba-Boo, or any random string of sounds - Dash’s vocals continue to increase daily!! We really enjoy seeing this sort of communication. We also have taught Dash a few baby signs, which again, I think is the coolest thing! I wonder if my boss would reward me with a pay increase if I did the sign for more…my luck, it would be interpreted as more work!
