Last weekend, Dash and Mommy (Tyler had to work – boo!) made the trek to San Antonio to attend Caitlyn’s (Lauren’s niece) first birthday and an additional party for the 4th of July. There was lots of food, lots of people, lots of presents for that little cutie, and lots of sleepy little ones at the end of the day.
Dash was quite the adaptable traveler; taking naps in a crib lined with pink and purple flowers and swinging in a pink outdoor swing did not seem to phase him. His favorite parts of the weekend included watching big cousins Caleb and Noah bounce on the trampoline (I’ve never heard Dash laugh so hard!) and eating Chick Fil-A chicken nuggets (we abstained from cake and ice cream, as we are going to be “those” parents who try to avoid sugar as long as possible). Side note – our little boy still has NO teeth, but he can gum the hell out of about any food!
I think being around those other children showed Dash a whole new world…shortly after we arrived on Friday, Dash started talking more than I have ever heard him talk! He has been saying “Mama” for a few weeks, and every now and then, we have heard other words like “gee-gee” (puppy, perhaps?). But our strong and silent Dash now has an entire vocabulary…I think we are only days away from a true “Dada,” which is awesome!
Here are a few pictures of the event. Unfortunately, having your own baby in your hands prevents you from being able to get in the front lines to get the “First Birthday Cake Action Shot,” but you get the idea.
