I went to use the bathroom this morning (stay with me here, I promise I will not provide TMI) and, as has been my habit for the last 9 months or so, I simply grabbed each side of my pants to pull them down. (Keep in mind that most maternity pants have elastic waistbands, therefore eliminating the need for a zipper and providing an easy up/easy down motion that makes going to the bathroom for the ga-zillionth time that much easier.)
But this morning, my pants didn't budge when I tried to pull them done. It took a split second for me to realize the problem - I was not wearing maternity pants! In fact, I was wearing a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans complete with a button and a zipper!!! I blame pure exhaustion for forgetting the huge milestone of fitting back in my regular jeans!!! What a huge feat! I am way excited!!
I still have a little bit more to go to get back to the real pre-preggo Lauren, but after feeling and being ginormous for the past months, I cannot begin to describe how great it feels to put on a pair of old faithful jeans. Although I will miss the elastic waistbands, I'm uber glad to welcome the zipper back into my life.
Speaking of zippers, most of you probably tuned into this blog for Little D updates...
Little D-Mad is doing great. Although, he has found his voice and is not shy about using it to let us know when he is hungry, he is really doing good. He pretty much only cries when he is hungry (with the slight possibility of being gas-y). As far as being hungry is concerned, all that little kid does is eat! Every 2 to 3 hours he eats, sometimes even more often than that! Calculate roughly 35 minutes to 1 hour to feed him (he is a very lazy eater!) using the "au natural method," and you will quickly understand why I feel as if all I do is feed the baby.
As for sleeping through the night...I must brag - last night, he graciously slept from about 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. (I think he knew that mama needed the sleep, as well as the hope of a baby who sleeps longer than 2 hours at a time!) We're hoping that this becomes more of the norm rather than the exception.
He also makes lots of noises - grunting style - as he stretches and moves and poops, and makes the cutest little humming noise when he sleeps (like a sweet little baby snore!) But my absolute favorite sound is this perfect little "ah-hoo" sound he makes after a sneeze. If we can ever catch that on video, we'll share it, but just imagine the cutest sound possible and well, that is close.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayer and support.
