Hey guys...sorry for the quick random blogs. Yesterday moved incredibly slow in some regards and incredibly fast in others. What a whirl-wind!! All three Maddox's are exhausted, but trying to sleep in between all the nurse checks!
Dash is soooooo handsome, but of course, I am biased. He weighed 7 lbs. 5oz when he made his debut into the world. So far, he seems like the coolest kid ever, so we are pretty stoked.
We spent ALL day yesterday excited to welcome our first baby on our anniversary (11-13 / 4th wedding anniversary!) And we even had the perfect idea for him to be born at 11:13 on 11/13. (And a dr. who said that was possible!) But that was not his style. Instead, Dash arrive at 12:09 a.m. on 11/14.
Not sure if you want all the labor details, but it was an adventure.. Mad props to Tyler for his heroic efforts in comforting me during contractions (moving from a 2 to an 8 over 14 hours without any drugs SUCKED so bad.) Tyler walked with me, let me clench his fist or forearm, and was so kind and supportive. It was tough b/c I felt like a major ninny through it b/c I was not thinking I was progressing. Little did I know that I was a huge trooper and not a drama queen!
When the epidural came - thank God for epidurals - my life changed. Although I was completely freaked out by how mu In a matter of two hours I progressed from and 8 to a 10 (great for a first time mommy!) - didn't feel a thing, mind you. Then, did some practice pushing for an hour or so. Then we met the real deal. I think it was about 1 hour of real pushing (that part sucked too, not gonna lie), and finally, after over 22 hours of labor, Dash arrived!!!
Tyler cut the umbical cord, and well, I think he and I both feel in love again - with each other and our new boy.
On a side note, my doctor was MIA throughout the entire event (including in the afternoon when the hospital told us to go our dr.'s office!), only to show up at 11:45 p.m. last night. He had told us already that he had a charity event in Houston (we laugh that he was at the Latin Grammy's)...but b/c of the timing, he was able make it at the last minute.
I know there is so much more to tell, but have not clue what at this point...probably b/c I am on a combined total of 3 hours of sleep!
But God seriously is good - He helped us get through it (I cried out to Him MANY times yesterday!!) and blessed us with a healthy, sweet, handsome mini-Tyler.
Today, we are just resting, trying to get me to move, and hoping to teach Dash to eat. But feel free to call, text, or even come by later this afternoon if you want.
Thanks so much for all the prayers and support!
